Update Manager gives "No space left" message

Running LMDE on a MSI Wind U100 netbook. It was running smoothly until now. Suddenly, Update Manager gives me a "No space left" message and refuses to install updates.

I thought I had unwittingly filled up the Linux partition (I'm dual-booting with Windows XP), but Disk Usage Analyzer assures me there are 34.1GB available.

Does anybody have any idea of what might be going on?

TIA

we need a more detailed error message than that;
can you please open the terminal and run

Code: Select all

apt update && apt dist-upgrade
and copy&paste here all the output (will be a loooong output so please wrap it with code tags)

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. Could you please indicate this newbie a quick way to use code tags? :D

click the quote button in this post to see the usage

Code: Select all

this will be displayed as code; useful for large outputs or when we don't want to lose the formating

Hi I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my query. I have been hit with a lot of extra work for the past few weeks, so I have had to set aside my tinkering with Linux until I can get some downtime. I'll try to follow your advice as soon as I have a chance.

Thanks again!

Check and see if your Root partition is full.
