the linux mint debian mirrors are slow at this point i wish i could see a Linux mint debian USA mirror but i am using a mirror in Canada: deb
http://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/linuxmint-packages/ debian main upstream import the download speed drops and it takes more up to five hours when downloading a lot of packages including dependencies as well what should i do about that?

Go to your Software Sources, select Download from = Other, click Select Best Server. See what comes up. Use that for some time, until the connectivity issues "resolve themselves".

To get the fastest repo mirror in LMDE you have to make sure that the package
mint-debian-mirrors is installed.
Then you have to run the following in the terminal:
This will show you the various mirrors with their speed starting with the fastest from the top if i remember correct. Select that one and you should be good to go.
