i am looking at ways to update specific apps on my lmde installation (mate) since thunderbird and other apps are so 'out-dated'.
currently /etc/apt/sources.list contains:
Code: Select all
deb http://linux-mint.froonix.org/ debian main upstream import
deb-src http://linux-mint.froonix.org/ debian main upstream import #Added by software-properties
deb http://lmde-mirror.gwendallebihan.net/latest testing main contrib non-free
deb http://lmde-mirror.gwendallebihan.net/latest/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://lmde-mirror.gwendallebihan.net/latest/multimedia testing main non-free
# deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
# deb-src http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
i also attempted to use the instructions for installing backports from the debian website... and didn't succeed.
so essentially, my question is.. what is the wisest way to update key apps such as thunderbird presently in lmde mate?
thanks
