Update repositories REALLY slow

Hi there,

I just installed Linux Mint to take it for a spin, after using Debian Unstable for 10 years. One thing is bothering me: the reps are SLOW. I can get 50 Kb/s tops, and on a really fast internet. Which rep should I point it to if I'm in Brazil right now? Also, the update manager asked to upgrade more than 400 packages...

Open the update manager then , Edit/Software sources/Download from

There you can either select a mirror located in Brazil in your case, or use the option 'Select best server' , which will choose automatically for you.

yeah problem is those servers don't mirror latest or incomming if i'm not mistaken

Yep, the main repository server is very very slow and has to handle very much data to... not so much users.
If you still need help: there are some repository mirrors. Take a look at this page (at the end):
http://www.linuxmint.com/mirrors.php

All of them should have an up-to-date "latest" repository, they may not all have "incoming" repository.
Very few choice for Brazil actually, only packages. Try with the University of Munich, maybe they've got great transatlantic connections.
