[SOLVED] Update Pack 4 - Did I ?

Post by zebedeeboss »

EDIT This has been solved as I did a new install from new ISO images - not matter what I did before it would not update to Pack 4

Hi

apologies if I am getting this all wrong but I thought I followed the Blog post to move from fresh install to update Pack 4

my repos state

Code: Select all

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/multimedia testing main non-free
but when I check update manager and update pack info it says
Your System is pointing to the "Linux Mint Debian Latest" repository
Current update pack available 4
Latest update pack used by this system is 2

I have done update upgrade and dist-upgrade and get a green tick saying your system is up to date but how can it be ?

my system is PU[-Quad core Intel Core i5-2320 (-MCP-) clocked at 1600.000 Mhz-] Kernel[-3.2.0-2-amd64 x86_64-] Up[-23 min-] Mem[-877.7/5970.5MB-] HDD[-10802.2GB(76.9% used)-] Procs[-204-] Client[-Shell-] inxi[-1.4.23-]

Thanks in Advance

Zeb,
your repos check > ok;
the kernel installed and in use > ok;

if you run in a terminal

Code: Select all

apt update && apt dist-upgrade
the result is a up to date system?
you might need to reboot (yeahh sometimes mintupdate needs these tricks) so that mintupdate becomes aware of the chances

Hi ZeroZero

All that has been done - on closer checking it would appear not all repo's are being reached, so I tried changing the server location and it's the same result.

I will therefore wait a few days... system is working, manual install of Mate and Cinnamon all worked fine, everything else fine.

Will report back later in the week how I get on.

Thanks

OK Here we are Wed Morn April 11th (UK GMT), with repositories seemingly fully reachable again (IE no long delay and then errors appearing)
and still it says I am up to date but showing as pack 2 not pack 4 ??
Very odd
