is what I get when I try to start Audacious since some recent updates in incoming.
Most likely, the trailing "2" was removed. (package)

Try renaming the command to audacious %U.

As i understand it, from your earlier posts*, the old version of gtk2-engine-murrine messes up appearance and consistency of Cinnamon themes. However, it seems to be the only one available from the testing repositories. How did you install 0.98.1?

Is there any way to download single package from debian unstable repositories without switching to them in apt? I.e without risking pulling incompatible dependencies and/or updating installed packages.

Edit: Nevermind, I finally found the link to the .deb package. All packages from testing are listed here http://packages.debian.org/testing/allpackages , just select the one you want, don't get misled by source link a select architecture at the bottom of the page. Theming is still broken however.

Out of sheer curiosity, is anyone here completely confused by debian webpages as much as I am? Every time I use them, I get completely lost.

@Lucas_maleficar,
you have both v. of that engine available in your default repo (same as me)
amadeu@zerozero:~$ apt policy gtk2-engines-murrine
gtk2-engines-murrine:
Installed: 0.98.1.1-3
Candidate: 0.98.1.1-3
Version table:
*** 0.98.1.1-3 0 <<<this one is the one you want from debian
500 http://debian.linuxmint.com/incoming/ testing/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
0.90.3+git20100323-0ubuntu3 0 <<<this one is installed by default because of the higher pin priority
700 http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian/import amd64 Packages
amadeu@zerozero:~$

on a side note if you need to look for a pkg in debian this is handy (just insert the name in the search box on the top right)
http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=all&section=all&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=chromium-browser

Audacious starts now after I deleted and purged everything and reinstalled it. Trying to add files to playlists I now get this:

When i tried to install mintdesktop the list of packages have Mate in. I don't want Mate. I prefer Cinnamon. Maybe we need a package mintdesktop-cinnamon?

Just type "Cinnamon" in Synaptics to find and install it 8)

Hi,

Is there a way to have mintUpdate work the the same way as in Gnome 2 and Cinnamon
under Gnome Shell? When you hover over it in the notification area it says "mintUpdate.py" while it in Cinnamon says "Your system is up to date"?

Found one problem, gnome shell crashes when you try to search.
It is due bug in nvidia drivers.

You need to pull 295.33-1 from debian-sid repo to fix it.

More info:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=135826&p=3

This is temp fix:

Just type "Cinnamon" in Synaptics to find and install it 8)

I know about package Cinnamon. I just ask if we need a metapackage mintdesktop-cinnamon so we can install with specific apps, settings and artwork for cinnamon. I didn't explain very well.

zerozero pls tell how did u get the software manager to work ?? (does it work under cinnamon as well ??)- Nvm yors truly is an idiot(failed to notice my romeo packs wheren't enabled')
also are there any current problems with the mint repos servers ?? (i seem to be 'apt getting' packs at speeds under 100kb/s) or is there smth i need to fix on my side (if its worth mentioning opera browser does work at full speed(did one of those net speed tests))-yep the mint servers are not doing great atm (snatched BFW via apt from the oficial debian repo at max speed)

See Clem's previous post on this thread:

The slow down on the servers happen occasionally. Sometimes it's not the servers but one of the routers between you and the server. Just wait awhile and they should be back to normal.

Hi,

I've hit most of the issues in this thread.

I hit the Evolution segfault mentioned here. Strangely, when running with strace it didn't segfault and subsequently ran perfectly normally. The conversion to maildir might well be worth mentioning in the release notes for the update (if you mention software not a part of the default install). From a user perspective you end up with another email account login@localhost which can be removed and .local/share/evolution/mail/local_mbox with the original pre-migration version of mail taking up disk space.

I did an install of 201109-gnome-dvd-64bit on two boxes. After removing mono-runtime, libgdiplus and pidgin, I did a full update and added the new sources at the head of this thread. On one box the update ran smoothly through mintupdate, on the other box it crashed repeatedly and I just dist-upgraded from a shell. I installed the gnome package with gnote. I'm mostly using Gnome Shell. These are the issues I haven't seen mentioned.

I've hit this pulseaudio bug, which requires removing everything after line 20 in /usr/share/alsa/pulse-alsa.conf.

Network manager is requiring administrator access to alter network interfaces and only allowing access to global settings rather than per user settings. Both dbus-daemon and polkitd appear functional. Adding the user to the netdev group doesn't seem to help. Admin access shouldn't be required for a locally logged in user to mod interfaces (unless you run Suse :) ).

Font rendering seems particularly bad and gnome-tweak-tool doesn't allow control/querying of sub-pixel rendering status. I don't know where that is stored in gnome3. Is it possible that libfreetype6 is the debian build with all the patent troubling hinting code switched off? Changing levels of hinting does seem to make a difference but fonts still look blocky in comparison to update pack 3.

Using an nvidia card, I had to install the binary drivers as the nouveau drivers simply didn't work with gnome shell. I hit the same problem with Sabayon 7, so I guess it's a stage the nouveau drivers are going through.

The nvidia drivers are giving me a UBB warning, which is meaningless to me.
[ 14071.282] (WW) NVIDIA(0): UBB is incompatible with the Composite extension. Disabling
Currently it's not allowing xrandr styley changes of display resolution but that might be to do with my xorg.conf monitor section not giving enough detail.

I think that's about all the problems I've hit, which makes it pretty smooth all in all. Cinnamon is shaping up nicely and it's nice to get to see it on LMDE. It's a pity that both Cinnamon and Gnome shell are less accessible than Gnome 2. If anyone has knowledge of a clutter magnifier that works like compiz ezoom, I'd love to know.

have you tried the built-in options (this is gnome-shell, i haven't test it in cinnamon)

there's also a few links about accessibility in gnome3 (might worth a read)
