Originally I thought it to be an update problem of UP3 to UP4. But it's still happening with a fresh install of UP4 also.
When powering off or even logging out the screen turns black. There is no response to keyboard input either. It's no timeout problem as I let it stay that way for a whole weekend. Same thing when going to a character session (CTRL-ALT-F1/...). Pressing ALT-F7 to go back to character session does not work. Neither does CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE to reset X.
Does this sound familiar to anyone ?
The problem is that I don't know where to look to find a clue about what's happening. Does somebody in here know where I could look ?

Well... I don't know how to fix it. But I now do know how to work around ! 
I'm using NVidia Twinview for a second screen. The thing crashes when the second screen is on. It doesn't however when the second screen is disabled first.
