I can get root, sudo, etc from tty1, tty2, etc, but in the GUI it doesn't work. Specifically, the user mint isn't in the sudoers group. Running visudo doesn't fix it right away (I don't know how to have the system look at the sudoers file for the user mint logged into the GUI, maybe log out than back in, eh?)
So, rather than have to play games and jump back and forth from tty1 to tty7, it would be so nice to just be able to have sudo work from a Live boot.
I booted off a USB flash drive, GRUB2 MBR, direct ISO boot method.
Thanks...
EDIT: OK, now at least I made user mint a sudoer and I didn't have to log out then back in, but I did have to switch to tty1...
