Win8 + LMDE 13 - So many problems

I've been at this for two days and i'm getting kind of desperate now
My main issue: i bought an Asus Zenbook UX32VD, and i can't figure out how to correctly configure dual boot with Windows 8 and Linux Mint Debian. This is mainly because of two big problems:
1. GPT/UEFI. I can install Win8 in EFI mode with no problem, but i cant say the same for Mint. There appears to be no efi folder on the burned USB, so it won't boot in EFI mode. Am i missing something?
I also tried to change the partition method to the old MBR, and i think that allowed me to skip this problem. But then we get to my second issue
2. Dual graphics card. This model as an HD 4000 as well as a NVidia 620M. I don't really need the NVidia in linux (except for CUDA development, which is not relevant for this), so i'm fine using just the intel one. But after trying to boot with either LMDE or even Ubuntu, usually all i get is a black screen, and it just blocks there. I followed some suggestions which involved adding additional boot parameters, like "i915.modeset=1 driver=intel", or just "nomodeset".
Sometimes (i repeat, sometimes) i'm able to boot the livecd and install the system, but then i have the same problem when rebooting the machine
I just hope i get some help from here, because this is really driving me crazy
Best regards,
