Had to re-install win7 which has worked, but as suspected it overwrites the grub so my LMDE is now invisible. I'm working off the live CD so I can see all the previous installation but need step by step guidance as to how to reinstall grub. I think this involves mounting the correct directory. I could bash around but I'm sure to do more damage than good and the actual LMDE installation was working a treat so I don't want to trash it for no good reason.

Managed to source an easy to understand tutorial which was under the Community Tutorial listing. I tend to forget about these tutorials and perhaps use the forum too readily. If you have the same problem as me, I would certainly recommend the tutorial.
