Locked out of LMDE. - SOLVED

Post by baronsamedi »

Working with a box with LMDE. It has been fine for months.

Yesterday I installed Dolibarr, the package for debian

http://sourceforge.net/projects/dolibar ... %29/3.2.3/

Today, when switching on the machine, I it kicks me stright out with a message saying "your session has lasted less than 10 seconds (duh), If you didn't end the session yourself, this might mean a faulty install or lack of disk space."

Then the details: (.xsession-errors):

Code: Select all

/etc/mdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
localuser: being addes to access control list
Failed to connect to the VirtualBox kernel service
Failed to connect to the VirtualBox kernel service
Failed to connect to the VirtualBox kernel service
Failed to connect to the VirtualBox kernel service
OpenSSL version mismatch. Built against 1000007f, you have 1000103f
Any ideas appreciated...

Ok, apparently I got through the mess. Here is how:

I had been trying to boot in recovery mode into root, but was not able to get the net connection up. However, pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 at the start session screen gets me to the Shell. There can I log in as root.

Then, following this link:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... 2f-941932/

I go:

Code: Select all

apt-get remove -f openssl

apt-get update

apt-get install openssh
Strangely, the desktop background image has been lost, but I have found no other problem so far.
