1. check on the status of this effort, since I'm not seeing a UP6 installer at the usual place
2. ask if this LMDE UP6 installer will have the LVM/LUKS install option, like the current Debian Installers

Clem and team were revising the installer this month (see here towards the bottom: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2275). The ISOs should enter QA this week (track progress here: [url]community.linuxmint.com[/url] and in a couple of weeks it should be at the link you have. I haven't heard any mention of LVM, so I don't think it's coming.

January is mostly gone... please when will you release the isos? it is a pain having to install nearly YEAR old distro (april 2012) and update

The new LMDE ISOs are almost ready and they should enter QA sometime this week. As previously announced, LMDE will come in two separate editions for MATE and Cinnamon.
