686-PAE Kernel

Postby Curtrey on Fri Feb 22, 2013 7:11 am

I have been using Linux Mint Debian on two of my desktops which have single core CPUs.
I have now acquired a motherboard bundle with a quad core CPU. The LMDE information site says I should install a 686-PAE kernel. Please explain how I can do this. Exact instructions would be appreciated as my command line skills are hopeless.
Thank you

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Thank you very much for your help.
The command line went in fine and after rebooting all the problems I had with LMDE vanished.

I am most grateful

PAE kernel is not required if you install the 64 bit version.
