after updating LMDE (which included a kernel update), my system started freezing on boot, without apparent errors.
here is the output (the system is on sda2):
- Code: Select all
[15.049024] Ext4-fs (sda2): re-mounted. 0pts: (null)
[....] Checking root file system...fsck from util-linux 2.20.1
/dev/sda2: clean, 43581/19... files,
6917057/77...... blocks
done
[15.3384..] Ext4-fs (sda2): re-mounted. 0pts: errors=remount-ro
[ok] Cleaning up temporary files ... /tmp/lib/init/rw
[15.635..] loop: module loaded
[info] Loading kernel loop
after which the boot stops, and the only possible thing is to cold reboot the pc.
the Ctrl+Alt+Del only gives the output:
- Code: Select all
[info] using makefile-style concurrent boot level 6.
After which nothing happens.
One thing I noticed is that even if the 3.2.0-4-486 kernel is present in /boot, grub doesn't see it.
The above behaviour happens both with the 3.2.0-2-486 and the 3.2.0-3-486 kernels
AH, and the initrd.img is shown to be a broken link when mounted from another system.
Anyone got an idea on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance,
Alex
