I'm having a problem for which I found a work-around, but would like to know if there is a better way of solving it.
Using a VMware virtual machine, the video adapter is the VMware SVGA II adapter. With the 10.2 kernel and the properly compiled xserver-xorg-video-vmware driver, the adapter and driver support 3D acceleration just fine. With the vmware driver on the live iso, it's very ugly and the screen must be several multiples of 1920x1200. I would characterize it as impossible to install.
What fixes the problem, after installing LMDE manually in text mode, is to install libxatracker-dev, which was a missing dependency for building xserver-xorg-video-vmware, then rebuild the package and install it.
So, if I could increase the size of the ram disk used to hold the live OS, it should be possible to recompile the driver before launching GUI mode. Or, if I could recompile the driver and insert it in the ISO image, that would fix it, too.
Can anyone point me to build instructions for building the ISO?
