How to get GRUB to recognize another On My Computer

Postby tlcmd on Mon Mar 17, 2014 5:25 pm

First, if this post belongs elsewhere or should have been added to a previous post, please let me know.
I have finally installed LMDE (Mate) to my PC alongside Windows 8.1, but my GRUB menu does not show WIndows 8. How can I get it to do so?
Thanks,

On my computer Windows8 is installed and I didn't want to delete it yet.
But Windows8 uses secure boot and UEFI.
So in my BIOS I disable secure boot and then choose something like Legacy BIOS.
Then I only see my GRUB and no Windows8.
So my way to switch is with the BIOS (but I'm always in Mint so no problem for me).
There is a possible UEFI install, but I don't know if that is simple.
My choise is to leave it the way I described.
Add (Solved) to the topic-title of the first post when appropriate so others know they might find a solution here.
