I installed LMDE last weekend.
When having a quick peek as the System Monitor, it would appear that installation has not picked up that I have a dual core processor. I am effectively running at half speed.
Also - how do I get the HardwareInfo that was available with LM13? This was a valuable tool and is not available with the Snaptic Package Manager. When I try to run HardwareInfo from the command line, my screen just goes blank.
I am getting very worried about the quality of this product - if it can't even find the basic hardware what else is missing?
Please help.

A lot of guessing because little precise information is given.
If a multi-core processor is not recognised it might be that the user has installed a 32-bit-system and not read the release notes http://linuxmint.com/rel_debian.php which say "If your CPU has multiple cores, or if you have more than one CPU, simply install the 686-PAE kernel and reboot your computer."
Information about hardware is given by the system profiler (hardinfo) in the menu.
Then there is inxi http://www.binarytides.com/inxi-system- ... ion-linux/ which can give you a lot of information.
If you miss any package you know from the main edition use the search at https://packages.debian.org/en/ You will find all the packages from Debian testing (=jessie).
Or are you looking for some external package like http://www.noobslab.com/2013/01/new-har ... y-for.html ? Instead of worrying "about the quality of this product" you could have got that in a few seconds with a simple search using Google or another search engine.
