[slvd]Mint Linux Debian 32-bit Live-DVD will not install...

Postby robert.thompson on Thu Dec 30, 2010 9:31 am

I have checked the md5 signature & it is OK.

I burned the image at the slowest speed (4x).

When I click the install icon, the words "Granting Rights" appear then disappear in the task bar, then, nothing else happens.

If I choose the 'compatibility mode' start up, the system hangs after the following line scrolls across the screen:

"[82.507246] ppdev: user-space parallel port driver."

I am using Mint 10 32-bit at this moment and it installed OK.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I can't install this?

Thanks,

Rob

There are known problems with the LMDE 32 bit release 201012

http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1610

and the replacement 201101 32 bit seems to still have issues too.

Hopefully the MINT DEV TEAM is reading this as you are, and addressing it...

I'm quite sure they are...

So why doesn't Mint 'pull' the download?

BTW, I started to install this 2 days ago. I re-downloaded it at least 3 times from different sites.

I thought that the problem was my machines (I tried it on 2) or worse, me.

I distro hop a lot and this is the first time this has happened to me.

It gives Mint a bad name... It gives linux a bad name.

I am surprised, frustrated and disappointed, given the great reviews of Mint's distros.

Vent is over...

For what it's worth...

The date of the blog posting from Clem notifying there was a problem was 2 days ago as well....check it out here

http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1610

The good news is:

You can still download the original 2010 09 32bit version, that does work, and then go thru the sudo apt-get update, and then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade....and you'll have the very latest version....

I (and I think most of Mint lovers) agree with you except Clem and Mint Team...
These 32bit ISOs will just damage Mint reputation

I guess that is why my post got 'buried' here!

Your post was moved into the LMDE section because it is a question about LMDE

Has LMDE 32-bit been fixed yet?
