pre-install question

I am getting ready to install LMDE with no Mint or Debian experience and limited Linux experience (coming from Fedora). I will be using an already existing /home directory which is mounted on a RedHat server and shared via NFS. Is there anything special I need to do during the LMDE install to be sure /home is found and that the system uses network authentication with my current ID? Thanks.

A little problem could be that the swap partition is not recognized.
