You now have a very stable, trouble free OS, I might be in a minority of one but I personally only use levels 1-3 as all my hardware is good on it and all my software is happy as well and I suffer no breakages or upsets when I update with Mint Update.

All video editing done on Avidemux and OpenShot, sound editing on Audacity.

If anyone has any suggestions to improve these videos or comments please post.

I am just about to upgrade my Openshot form 1.3 to 1.3.1 on my LMDE installation. I did so earlier today on my Isadora installation. I haven't used the newest version yet. In fact all I have done with 1.3 was import some files and create some animated titles to test out that feature. Which version of Openshot are you using? I'll take a look at the videos and get back to you.

I'm well out of my depth editing videos but I think OpenShot is very forgiving.

I just downloaded the version 1.3.1 from the repos so that's the only version I've used.

I've been putting the videos together in OpenShot then playing them in VLC as I record the narrative and then back to OpenShot to put the two together. I expect there are easier ways but I'm a total non techie novice at video apps.

I suppose the thing I do that's different is recording the video output of one machine on a second machine in .M2TS format but unfortunately the capture software is a Windows app

I've spent the last two days playing with Mint Debian Xfce and I think that will be the direction I will take from now on, Gnome was my desktop of choice but I don't wish to be around to witness its death throes. I can't say anything positive about Gnome 3, just a bunch of developers refusing to listen to end users.

Every app if it stands the test of time needs a rewrite but it's a chance to improve the product not strip it of all functionality.
At the moment you have a top panel that might be 10% used at the most with no functionality but then they've taken another huge chunk of real estate down the left hand side.

Sorry for the rant I guess I had better do a video of installing Mint Debian Xfce next, my only problem is I haven't found the menu editor yet
