Not able to log in graphically

Hey all,

I just came back to using LMDE instead of the normal edition, and I'm having a bit of an issue. When I boot up, everything seems normal, and I get the normal log in screen. There, if I attempt to log in, the screen goes back and the pinwheel comes up (as per normal). I then hear a beep and am returned to the login screen.

However, I found that if I attempt to go to the tty interface (using C-M-F1), I can log in perfectly fine. I would like to use my graphics capabilities, however.

Anyone know a solution? Thank you!
