[solved]Found a problem with junk yard computer

Tried to install LMDE_Xfce have no mouse, keyboard, or LAN card. I did it get something going with Mint 10 and the on board video.
Can't even get Clonezilla to work to install my clone, same problem no mouse, keyboard or LAN card.

I upgraded the BIOs to see if that worked, it didn't help.
Only thing I can think of is the new kernel doesn't support the system, and there is no way to change it if I have no keyboard or mouse support and no internet.

It works with Vista, Win7 and XP, I just only have a key for XP, so right now that is what it's running, I'm almost afraid to try Mint 10 with the nvidia 9500 gt video, But would like to have Xfce on it if I could.

Mint 9 Xfce LTS version is my suggestion to you. Many of my machines are running it, and I have experienced happiness on many installs on old hardware.
The lucid ppa's are all still available, and any new ppa's for apps like firefox, etc. are easily found. I'm running kernel 3.0.12 on a first gen p4 asus mobo without a hitch.
Something to consider ?

Edit : I remember reading something about problems with powernow on certain machines . . can't quite recall yet, but thought it worth a mention.

I think the reason why it was in the trash heap was the on-board sound was fried. I put an old sound blaster audigy 2 card I had in my box of junk, to get the sound working again.

I forgot all about Mint 9 Xfce(LTS). I'm in live cd now so far everything seems to be working out of the box!

Tried Mint 12 same problem at the OP. So it look like it might be Mint 9 Xfce for me.

Thanks for the help!
