[BUG] gparted bug?

I've been using LMDE for a while now but am just about to do a fresh install of the 201204 release. I think there's a bug in GParted, or at least a useful tool "missing" that should be on the LiveCD.

I've attached a screenshot for anyone who's concerned.

To replicate the bug, boot into LMDE 201204 (Cinnamon/Mate) LiveCD, open GParted and click "Device" -> "Attempt data rescue".

This is not a bug. Just install Gpart from Synaptic Package Manager and the command will work.

Gpart (not Gparted) is the utility that attempts to find and make available accidentally or purposely deleted partitions. Without Gpart installed, Gparted has no capability for data recovery.

IMO, any part of an app that throws an error message is a bug. It would look more professional if "Attempt Data Rescue" was only enabled if Gpart was installed. It's a very simple check and only a couple of lines of code.

You will need to communicate with the Gparted developer/maintainers to get that "fix" implemented. Also the Gpart developers, since Gpart is not developed by the same people as Gparted.

The Mint team does not modify Gparted in any way; they use Gparted as it is found in the Ubuntu amd Debian repos.
