LMDE-201204 portmap/NFS-common incompatibility <SOLVED>

Postby fixus971 on Mon Apr 30, 2012 5:44 pm

Hi, I found one problem in new LMDE2012 regarding NFS repository.
I have to connect to server disks via NFS and usually I have to install NFS-Common
but now Synaptic tell me that it wants to uninstall "portmap".
I see somewhere that portmap have is internal NFS system but don't run from fstab/mount and I cant found other info.

In other forum I found someone that found an incompatibility between packets/repo:

The problem is that nfs-common has been updated in the backports repo, but portmap has not, and the new nfs-common and old portmap are not compatible. So to install it either disable backports, or use force version to install the previous version of nfs-common.
(from: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic ... l-failure/)

I have a fresh LMDE2012 and don't make strange configuration at the moment.

I hope that you can send me on correct way. Thanks -Fixus971

[moved here]
- it's not related to sid breakages;
- if you feel like changing the subject to something more to your liking, please do :)

I get problem on LMDE Pack4 2012 64-bit of Linux Mint with Cinnamon.
After a fresh install I can't connect to my server by NFS.
Usually I install nfs-common but today Synaptic tell me that I have to purge portmap packet.

Re: LMDE-201204 portmap/NFS-common incompatibility

:D OkOk ZeroZero :D
The problem was that I see "portmap" installed by default and see that it is used in same forum.
Now I installed as usually and all run well.
"portmap" was auto-replaced by other service in LMDE:
"Note, selecting 'rpcbind' instead of 'portmap'"
Thanks

:D yeahh, we should always look closely at the output that the terminal shows us :D
this was the clue
~$ sudo apt-get install portmap
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting 'rpcbind' instead of 'portmap'
rpcbind is already the newest version.
rpcbind set to manually installed.

^^ as you posted after above
