Can't install ssh and opnessh-server ? ? ?

Postby untenops on Tue May 22, 2012 11:39 am

I use BackupPC run from another machine to backup all my computers. After installing LMDE on my desktop I was trying to set this up again and ran the following to install some needed programs on my LMDE box:
apt-get install rsync ssh openssh-server
As it tried to install I got a few errors that I will have to look up again tonight in order to post them here. But the out come was that rsync was install, but ssh and openssh-server are both partiality installed. At this point I can not ssh into my LMDE box. Has anyone else had problems installing ssh and openssh-server on LMDE? Is there a fix?
Thanks.

Hi, sorry I am using ssh and openssh-server at LMDE 201204 without problems. Maybe this helps:
sudo apt-get install openssh-server --fix-missing
newest LMDE at asus eeepc901, stable LMDE at eeepc1215b (AMD APU), debian at server

Ok I've gotten this to work. Maybe not the best practice but everything seem to work fine.
I did a search for the file 'smfpd' and simply renamed it 'smfpd-old'.
I was then able to finish the install of ssh and openssh-server. I can now ssh into my desktop machine and BackupPC is working fine. :)
