We have (debian based) openmediavault running from a USB flash drive on a server used to backup/synchronize the files of a network that includes a couple of Win7 notebook computers and this desktop running the latest LMDE.
The Win7 notebooks (one with RAID 0) use Synkron (available from Sourceforge), which is not found in the LMDE repositories (AFAIK), to synchronize with the openmediavault backup server. All computers and the printer are wired to a Linksys gigabit ethernet switch. A version of Synkron for Linux can be downloaded in a tar.gz format which I (frankly) don't know how to install.
So the purpose of ths post is to ask: Is anyone here using Synkron successfully w/ LMDE and if so, what do I need to do to get it working on this LMDE desktop so I can back up and synchronize my data on the 2 disk openmediavault server with RAID1?
Or
Is there something else I can use instead for this purpose (i.e. DirSyncPro, Lucky Backup, Unison, Conduit or Grsync - all installable via LMDE's Package Manager or a Mate Terminal)? Any constructive recommendations made will be appreciated.
TIA
