How long until Firefox 13 is in LMDE repo?

Postby Rory on Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:09 pm

How long does it typically take for Firefox updates to update on LMDE?

I'm new to LMDE. When I installed, I had a Firefox update to Firefox 12, Thunderbird update but nothing else. This suggests to me that Firefox is updated independent of the Testing>Incoming>Latest rolling release strategy on LMDE.

I'm wondering if I should just update to Firefox 13 by downloading directly from Mozilla or if LMDE typically releases Firefox quickly.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You can just uninstall Firefox, download 13 and run sudo tar -xvf firefox-13.0.tar.bz2 -C /opt

All your settings, desktop shortcuts etc will remain the same.

yeahh, you're right :) all the pkgs listed here are independent from the UP policy and can (theoretically) be updated any time (this is not always true because some of them depend on upstream lib [cinnamon > clutter/colg] so some interdependency exists in some cases)

regarding FF/TB, 12 hit the repos about 10-12 days after being released, if this is an update that doesn't bring any major issue we can expect the same time (or shorter because now the builds are automatic)
