Update to chrome destroyed javascript and about:plugins page

Okay, I recently updated chrome to version 21.0.1180.77 . As soon as I did, I started having massive problems. I can't turn off flash because I can't get to about:plugins (chrome keeps asking me to kill it because it takes 10 minutes to load a blank page) and every time I look at a page involving javascript, the chrome tab the page is in crashes.
Is there a way I can get a .deb of an older chrome (version 20 maybe?) (64 bit version) or fix this?
I've tried uninstalling through the package manager (deleted the configuration files too) and reinstalling; that did not work. THEN I tried installing chrome-unstable, same problem.
I can't imagine everyone in the world is having the same problem, but none of this was happening before that chrome update!
What can I do to get it working?
