gscan2pdf freezes while saving a file

Hi all,
I am new to LMDE, and I use the xfce edition. The reason I am using it is that I was looking for a debian based rolling release distro. I love it and I use it along with the ubuntu based verion of mint. Howeverm, I got a problem yesterday. I connected my scanner to LMDE, and installed gscan2pdf since I wanted to scan multiple pages to a pdf file. I did the scan, and I could see the preview. The scan was complete, and while saving the file as a pdf, gscan2pdf just freezes. I searched for the bug in google, and it turns out that it is because of the imagemagick package. I did not try the solution since it needed installing another version of imagemagick from outside of the software manager, and I did not want to mess with my OS. Does anybody else has the same problem with gscan2pdf?

P.S. I tried gscan2pdf on the ubuntu based version (13 xfce) and it worked flawlessly.
