Orphan packages in Synaptic

My warning to all ! Do not use/create the Orphan filter. I did and ran it and my system was hosed. Managed to recreate everything due to doing backups but now, I am back to the dang 'IPP tag cannot be edited' again. Still trying to resolve it and will persevere.
Again if you do run the Orphan filter be sure you know what you are removing. I will never trust that Orphan filter again. I will remove things by hand and test after every removal.
Better yet, might be a great idea to use CloneZilla. I didn't and wish I had.

I broke my system once doing that too. If you use apt-get, it will tell you when you have orphaned packages. I haven't had a problem with it's autoremove feature. Your mileage may vary.
