Add-on For Firefox

Postby tlcmd on Tue Oct 29, 2013 2:04 pm

Hope this doesn't tromp on anyone's toes or violate the rules of this forum, but i just received notification from Gizmo's Freeware of an add-on for Firefox and other browsers which will save paper and ink and runs on Windows and LINUX. Here's the article:

Save On Expensive Ink And Paper With This Free Browser Add-On

CleanPrint is a free add-in, available for most major web browsers, that changes the way you print a web page. Instead of clicking the normal Print button, click the CleanPrint button in your browser's toolbar instead, if you want a simpler and cheaper printing option.

With CleanPrint you see a simplified version of the web page you're printing, with minimal graphics and a straightforward layout. Each section of text can be individually hidden or shown, so that you get only the information you want. You can even add annotations. When you're happy with how the content looks, hit the Print button and your chosen items will be printed.

CleanPrint saves you money on ink, toner and paper, as you never have to print those unnecessary items from the page that you always end up throwing away. ... er-add.htm

    How CleanPrint Works
CleanPrint is activated in a lightbox when a print, PDF, or email (optional) button is clicked next to your content. Before printing or saving content, users can eliminate images, increase or decrease font size, and eliminate or grayscale text to save ink and paper. The CleanPrint window includes sharing tools and a paper saving counter that shows visitors how eco-friendly your site is.
---what cleanprint does to a web page or other page needing printing

Eliminating images, often adverts is a good way of saving ink+paper, however I usually save web pages as PDF files, and can edit them or peruse them as needed..
--not printing is the best way to save ink & paper..

Hi, I just wanted to say "thank you" for this.
I looked into these sort of add-ons years ago, but was unable to find any that worked and eventually just gave up.
Well...times have changed :-) and although I did not favor the one you suggested, the comments steered me towards two applications that are free and work perfectly well: ... it/?src=ss
and a stand-alone website:
So: thank you, thank you, thank you :-)
