Can this be your solution:
HDMI Sound output

If your HDMI Sound output does not work out of the box, you can try the following solution:

In a terminal, type the following commands:
•sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/alsa-daily
•apt update
•apt install oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms

This is a solution whichc an be found in the release notes of Linux Mint 15.

pf@volpe ~ $ sudo apt-get install oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut.
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen.... Fertig
E: Paket oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms not found :cry:

Link in Germany for HDM :http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Soundkarten_konfigurieren/HDA?redirect=no
and pf@volpe ~ $ head -n 1 /proc/asound/card0/codec*
==> /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 <==
Codec: Realtek ALC662 rev1
==> /proc/asound/card0/codec#3 <==
Codec: Nvidia MCP79/7A HDMI

Realtek ALC662 ====> options snd-hda-intel model=auto probe_mask=1

The options snd-hda-intel model=auto probe_mask=1
I insert with : sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

REBOOT and the Sound Problem is solved.

I have tried your workaround but unfortunately it doesn't work in my case.
If I add that line, "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output + Analog Stereo" and "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output" voices completely disappear from the Sound->Hardware->Profile Menu.
Removing that line, these two voices pop up again.. but unfortunately it doesn't work in any case...
What should I do?

Just to be honest, I have tried the same laptop (but with Win7), the same HDMI cable and the same TV and it works!

No Sound / Kein Sound

Postby Bugs2rl on Thu Jan 09, 2014 7:27 pm

:(
PulseAudio Mixer_1.png
Volume control before / Lautstärkeregler vorher: No sound / Kein Sound

Used OS: Mint 15 XFCE Olivia / Benutztes Betriebssystem: Mint 15 XFCE Olivia. | I also found a German Wiki on this issue: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Soundkarten_konfigurieren. / Es gibt auch ein deutsches Wiki zu diesem Thema: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Soundkarten_konfigurieren. | Soundcard found by using the console command 'hwinfo --sound', 'sudo modprobe' in connection with the found sounddrivername worked / Soundkarte durch den Konsolenbefehl 'hwinfo --sound' gefunden, 'sudo modprobe' mit dem dadurch gefundenen Treibernamen funktionierte:

Soundcard gefunden.png
Volume control afterwards / Lautstärkeregler danach: Sound working / Funktionierender Sound

Problem: after reboot the directory /proc/asound didn't exist anymore, again no sound. Not occoring in Mint 13. / Problem: nach einem Reboot war das Unterverzeichnis /asound aus dem /proc-Ordner verschwunden und es gab wieder keinen Sound. Unter Mint 13 trat das Problem nicht auf.
