Error on exiting a Virtual Terminal

Postby AlanWalker on Tue Jun 03, 2014 2:36 am

On Mint Linux LMDE 201403 64bit Cinnamon (under LXDE) I am getting the following error when attempting to return from a Virtual Terminal:
Code: Select all
[ok] Starting MDM Display Manager: mdm .
.ok
[ok] Starting SMB/CIFS daemon: smbd .
[fail] Startpar: service(s) returned failure: Plymouth fail

The Virtual Terminal acts as though it is waiting for another response from the system. I know the system does not hang because I am able to start another Virtual Terminal but then, attempting to exit that terminal, I get the same error.

Attempting to return from a Virtual Terminal hangs my system and (unpleasantly) requires a hard-reset.

Occasionally I've noticed the same error happening when I shut my system down (before my install of LXDE).

How can this be fixed?

TIA
