Hey all
I have upgraded to Mint 17, fresh install. I am trying to setup my proxy
in synaptic package manager under network, I tick manual as I always did, then click the Authentication box, my the box does not want me to write in it.
I did try and Google the error and read some forums, but without any help.
What might be the problem.

Re: synaptic package manager
Mint 17 quiana cinammon - 64 bit
It may well be a bug but how do we either escalate it and get it dealt with or find a workround? Not everyone isf running from a home platform but have to cope with a proxy in a school or college environment.
This is the kind of problem that would put newbies off especially since they might expect the software from the install to be tested.

Re: synaptic package manager
I also reckon its a bug.
I will report it,
It seems the proxy setup in Ubuntu differs from the one in Mint.
We have a RCHE at work and he did not many to sort it out in the terminal.

Re: synaptic package manager
I confirm this.
It also happens in Debian (and LMDE).
Does not happen in Mint 13 (Synaptic is old there, version 0.75.9).

Re: synaptic package manager
There's a fix for this available upstream, I've cherry-picked it and made a pull request for Synaptic in Mint 17. Wait for its approval.
Update: Synaptic 0.81.2-4 is in the repos.
