How to get the MATE entries out of the XFCE menu?

Postby simplex on Sat Jun 21, 2014 4:14 pm

(If the following is off-topic, please tell me the correct subforum.)

I am using LMDE, and since there is no special XFCE LMDE edition, I just installed LMDE201403-MATE and removed all mate-packages and installed all xfce-packages.

Works very well, and I now have my favorite desktop, with one exception: The XFCE menu, which is accessible from the mouse icon in the left lower corner, has many double entries and many entries apparently left from MATE. How do I fix this?

Greetings,
S.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I do not see duplication on xfce menu, but mine is the debian vanilla xfce menu, not the Mint version.

What I did was to 'purge' all mate related stuff, except perhaps mdm and mate-icon..

may be you can try 'purge' or in synaptic it is "Mark for complete removal".
