sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
* pw then entered:

Similar problems have been reported earlier this year but they were allegedly fixed. Are you using latest LMDE 201403 which includes Service Pack 8?
As an alternative to MintInstall try using Synaptic Package Manager to install software.
Unfortunately I do not speak German so cannot be more precise.

In LMDE you should not use apt upgrade but apt dist-upgrade

What theme do you use? do you use the default Mint-X theme? If not please switch to this default theme before trying to open the software manager.

Hello, supermking.

As the other users who gave advice to you did not understand the German error message, let me clear this up.

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --clear-avil && sudo dselect update
dpkg: Fehler: unbekannte Option --clear-avil
The error message clearly states that in the command "dpkg --clear-avil" the option "--clear-avil" is unknown. You simply have to run

Code: Select all

man dpkg
in such cases to find out what is wrong and in this case you will find

Code: Select all

man dpkg
[...]
       --clear-avail
              Lösche die existierenden Informationen darüber, welche Pakete verfügbar sind.
--
       --clear-avail
              Erase the existing information about what packages are available.
So the first part of the commandline should read

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --clear-avail
Cheers,
Karl
