Firefox freezes mouse

Postby sgosnell on Sat Feb 12, 2011 10:22 am

Well, I couldn't stand the stability and switched my repositories to Sid. Did the dist-upgrade and all seemed well. After rebooting, I opened Firefox, and when I scrolled the page, the mouse froze. This happens repeatedly, with the mouse just freezing in Firefox. Everything else works, just not the mouse cursor. This is on an Asus EEE-PC 900, using the default touchpad. Restarting X restores the mouse, but running Firefox freezes it. Anyone have any experience with this?

Maybe I found the problem. A USB mouse works even with the touchpad frozen. I stopped running syndaemon, and disabled the touchpad taps and unchecked the "Disable touchpad while typing" box, and so far the touchpad still works in Firefox. I'll keep investigating as time permits, to try and find exactly which one was causing the problem.

It appears that the problem was syndaemon. It's not available in the repos for Sid, and it appears to be unnecessary. The checkboxes in the mouse preferences dialog actually work now.
