I'm running 64 bit Mint Debian. It won't let me install VLC. It says it won't install some of the dependencies. Can anyone tell me whats going on? If I force it to install the dependencies, it wants to remove amarok and other programs.

If you did the update and want your VLC back again,
add
deb
http://ftp.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
deb
http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib non-free
to your /etc/apt/sources list, then
apt update
apt install libva1/stable
apt install vlc
and then wait for the package to be fixed this time instead of tinkering

hi,
re VLC see :
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=70719.
but I did not follow the above...
while waiting for a fix, for the time being, I have reinstalled VLC this way:
temporarily removed from my sources.list following:
deb
http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free
and replaced with:
deb
http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main
deb-src
http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main
then
and
after the reinstall, have deleted again from the sources.list the two videolan.org repositories, and added again the debian-multimedia repository
