Hi. Is there any way of running desktop-webmail on LMDE? It doesn't seem to be available.

Thanks.

Would squirrelmail provide you the functionality that you are looking for? It is in the LMDE repositories.

Isn't squirrelmail just used as a mail server?

I have never used it but did read in the description about its use as a client
SquirrelMail is a standards-based webmail package written in PHP. It includes built-in pure PHP support for the IMAP and SMTP protocols, and is designed for maximum compatibility across browsers. SquirrelMail has few requirements and is easy to configure and install. It runs on top of any IMAP server.

SquirrelMail has all the functionality you would want from an email client, including strong MIME support, address books and folder manipulation.
I'll take a quick look at the user manual to see if you can use the client w/o having the server running. http://squirrelmail.org/docs/user/user.html

in that same thread someone suggested fetchmail.

I do not know the requirements for installing/configuring the server when you just want the client. I hope some of this helps.

That's not what I wanted at all. I just wanted to use Desktop-Webmail on LMDE or to launch the gmail browser client from with just one click. Basically this http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/s ... in-ubuntu/ but with Iron Browser (based on Chrome) instead of Firefox.

Instead, Evolution e-mail is working out just fine.
