Things may have changed since I last saw anything posted re: Remastersys; but originally it was developed for Ubuntu and is packaged for Ubuntu. Unless they have repackaged it for Debian I doubt that you will be able to successfully install it. Not all Ubuntu based .deb packages are compatible with Debian and its derivatives.
