Howto uninstall firefox without having to install iceweasel?
There is a dpkg file somwhere that can be edited so as not to force apt to install iceweasel to as an alternative to firefox, but I forgot where it is.

after further investigation gecko-media-player requires a gecko browser and gecko-media-player is required by mint-meta-codecs and mint-meta-xfce.
