checkgmail broke again

I searched and found where checkgmail had broken before and the fix was some perl module having to be installed. Now it's broken again, and I already have the module installed.
Anybody else having a problem with this?
Also, does anyone else have a decent alternative? I need sound, because I'll be reading a book and glance up when I hear a new message come in. The one I used to like was something like gnome-check-gmail, but I don't see it in the repositories.
Thanks for any thoughts...

Sorry, I can't get to anything that makes sense on this URL you gave. It says something about "Pastebin.com Unknown Paste ID".

Sorry I use a Chrome addon, and when I'm not using it the Cairo Dock Mail applet takes over. Only problem is if I leave the computer on I get "Master I have mail for you" at 3am.

I might like being called "Master", but not at 3am. <g>
Which Chrome addon are you using? I've got google-chrome-unstable installed, if that matters.
Honestly, I don't know why they don't just add sound to the standard gmail notification option. Unless you're looking at the screen, you miss it. How hard would it be for them to add a "Play this .wav file on notificatin" option?

Just a suggestion, but why not use thunderbird. You can configure it any which way you like and you can work offline too.

Well, I was able to get your dropbox file, but I have never seen a file like that associated with checkgmail. Not sure where to look. Presumed all checkgmail files would be under ~/.checkgmail but apparently such is not the case.
Having a problem with "Mail Checker Plus for Google Mail" also. This morning was the first time I started the browser with it installed, and I got two pop-ups warning that my session wasn't saved properly and do I want to restore. Happens every time now.
I'm not very good at this stuff, am I?

Save the file, make it executable and launch it. Right click the icon in the taskbar and set it up. If you like it, add it to your start programs.

Um, okay, I'll try that.. but I've been using checkgmail for years and have never had to do anything like this.

Nope, doesn't work. If I run in terminal, it says unable to find gmail.ik and if I run normally it just pops up the same error I've been getting lately.. an authentication error where my username/password fail. Hmm!

Hmmm indeed, seems like it something deeper that is the problem. If I launch from terminal:

Oh yes. I'm *using* mail.google.com in my normal Gmail usage, which works just fine. It's only the notifier which recently broke.
Whoops, have to hold off a few minutes.. got warned I couldn't post another reply so soon after my last. Must be an anti-spam measure.

Try sudo checkgmail -update worked for me.
This script is exactly the same as mine I think, but I poached mine of the web and didn't install it from the repo. The repo version brings up the same config dialog! But my password is now encrypted because I installed the repo version and dependancies, oh well
