Recovering System Monitor applet

Post by davenotamonkey »

After a fresh install of LMDE (apologies if this is in the wrong place - I think it should live more with Gnome than with LMDE), I got the following error:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "....
discussed here:
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=73643
...with bug report here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/783537

The culprit this time was the System Monitor (the CPU, network etc graphs on the panel). Being somewhat stupid, I pressed "delete" rather than "don't delete", and now it's no longer in the "Add to Panel" list.

Does anyone know how I can get it back?

(please note: I *do* have the gnome-system-monitor itself, but I can't set up the applet that runs on the panel)

Thanks in advance for your time!

Suggest reinstalling gnome-system-monitor package with Synaptic. And restart X or reboot, if you haven't already done so.

Hi Vincent,

Thank you (for the move and the advice). I only just got access to the machine again, and can confirm that you suggestion was spot-on. I used apt-get purge rather remove (just in case), and reset before re-installing. I now know what's going on in my machine again!

Cheers,

Dave
