Thunderbird busted

Hi all,

I'm using LMDE, and just recently did an automatic ugrade, which managed to make Thunderbird hang in mid air. I have to use the "force misbehaving application to quit" thingie to unhang the computer. It seems that Thunderbird 9.0.1-1 was installed. I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall 3.1.7-1, which is what was installed previously. It was difficult to find a copy of the .deb file, but once I did, I used gdebi to install it, which then reported to me that it was already installed! At this point trying to run Tbird I get a little window on the screen saying: " window id="messengerWindow" " and nothing else happens. At one point I also saw a msg. saying that 'libmozjs.so' couldn't be found, but it is there in '/opt/thunderbird'. At this point I can't go forward and I can't go back, so any help would be appreciated. Running 'thunderbird' with 'set -x' on I get this:

ray tty=pts/2 /opt/thunderbird $ thunderbird

Hi

I hope you have saved your TB profile? It is under /home/user/.thunderbird a folder with 8 cryptic letters: mine: ned8okvx.default.

Once that is done, we see go on.

Thunderbird 9 should work just fine.

apt-get purge thunderbird
apt-get install thunderbird

No issues here:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:9.0) Gecko/20111222 Thunderbird/9.0.1
