Install UltraEdit Error

Postby DBateham on Wed Apr 11, 2012 3:53 pm

Trying to install UltraEdit 3.0.0.11 on Linux Mint LMDE 64bit (UP4) with Package Installer.
I downloaded the 64bit deb package for Ubuntu 11.1 as it appeared to be the most compatible version from developers website (other options are for Fedora, openSUSE, Redhat, and an all others tar package).

Upon running the UltraEdit deb file in Package Manager, I get "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libnsp4 (>= 4.7.3-Oubuntu1~)"
How do I fix this and install UltraEdit?

Any suggestion appreciated.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

--try the tar package instead, and see if it can build against the Debian version you have..

Upon installation, you will be provided a 30 day trial period depending on previous usage. After this period expires, you must purchase a license to continue using the application.

Thanks, your suggestion was spot on. From the links you provided, I downloaded the tar file and followed the simple instructions for installation, and it works. I did have to add UltraEdit to the menu for each desktop environment manually, but that's not difficult with the provided tools in Linux. -- Again, thanks, UltraEdit works like a charm. :D DBateham

I think I'll save that as a good answer to the perennial question "why it's not recommended to attempt installing Ubuntu packages on Debian".
