Videograbber Bestek Model 8701, usb-id: eb1a:2863

Since I have the need to record a video signal, I dug out my old videograbber, and tried to plug it into my notebook.

Here's the dmesg output:

For testing purposes I used the video output signal of my Wii (PAL). I found the following options for displaying the Wii video signal with VLC:

having the correct colors, but a picture that has been cut in half and the top beeing displayed on the bottom:
Code: Select all
cvlc v4l2:///dev/video1 :v4l2-standard=PAL :v4l2-width=788 :v4l2-height=576 :v4l2-fps=29.97 :v4l2-aspect-ratio=4\:3

having the picture not cut in half, but with wrong colors:
Code: Select all
cvlc v4l2:///dev/video1 :v4l2-standard=PAL_60 :v4l2-width=788 :v4l2-height=576 :v4l2-fps=29.97 :v4l2-aspect-ratio=4\:3 :v4l2-use-libv4l2 :v4l2-controls-reset :v4l2-brightness-auto=1 :v4l2-hue-auto=1 :v4l2-auto-white-balance=1 :v4l2-autogain=1

As you can imagine, both options are not really satisfying..

The next problem is the audio.

In the dropdown boxes auf audacity I found this "Em28xx Audio: Empia 28xx Capture (hw:1,0)" This sounds like the sound stream I am searching for, but it only gives me silence. also using hw:1,0 inside VLC only gives me silence. hw:0,0 gives me the internal microphone of my notebook..

So what I'm searching for is a way to get the correct video and if possible also the audio stream from my videograbber to play on my notebook, and or recording them to a file.

ps.: I also posted my problem in the vlc forum here:

And I described my attempts here and uploaded two pictures of the vlc results here:
