Suspend and resume with a ASUS M5A88-M motherboard

Post by jcbrinfo »

Hi all,
I have a HTPC with a ASUS M5A88-M motherboard and I installed Linux Mint Debian 201204 64 bits with fglrx on it. I never succeeded to wake it up after suspend. I tried a ton of tricks I found on Internet and none works.

In every case, the computer seems to suspend correctly. But when I push the power button or hit the space bar of the keyboard, all I can get are the fans running and the Num Lock light lit.

In details, when the computer is suspended:
  • Power light: Blinking
  • Fans: Off
  • Blu-Ray driver: Off
  • Keyboard: All lights off
  • Mouse: Laser beam off
  • Screen: No signal
And when I try to resume it:
  • Power light: On
  • Fans: On
  • Blu-Ray driver: On (The eject button works.)
  • Keyboard: Num Lock light on. Does not react when I hit Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock.
  • Mouse: Laser beam on
  • Screen: Black for a moment, then no signal until I force the computer to restart.
Here is the content of /var/log/pm-suspend.log:

Hi,

I've had the exact same problem (on Asus k52je) and it drove me nuts. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a solution for MInt, but I did find a solution for Ubuntu 12.04.
Who knows, it might work for Mint as well...

****Two things though****
* First link is the bug report which led me to the Second link where I found the actual solution that worked for me
* solution is for Ubuntu, don't know if it will work for Mint, but it wouldn't hurt to try and let everyone here know - I am sure that there are plenty more Asus users that have the same problem).

First link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/951143
Second link: http://askubuntu.com/questions/53372/su ... sus-laptop

Hope this helps
