Wireless network USB adapters

Post by Brian49 »

Can anyone recommend some wireless network USB adapters that will readily be recognised by an LMDE system, please? Many thanks for any kind help.

Not using LMDE, but I think it is not too important, what is more important is the chip and whether you can install the linux driver ( or already preloaded in kernel)

This is the wireless dongle I have. I chose external attenna for added gain ( much stronger)

inside it has realtek RTL8188S chip.

It works on many Linux OSes I tested.

I think most Edimax wireless stuff is Linux friendly - if you search Amazon including "Linux" you will see that Edimax actually mentions it at least!

I've just bought a D-LinkDWL-G122 (a wireless G adapter) from Tesco online for £11 and it works fine straight out of the box. Just plug in and go! No CD or any other setup was needed. So if you just want something that works with Linux Mint Nadia, I suggest you try it and save yourself a lot of hassle with NDIS wrappers etc..
