xsane 0.998; Epson Scanner 1240U.
Since updating from Up5 to Up6 the Preview window of xsane has been screwed up: it's totally blank except for a very thin strip along the top and left-hand side of the window.
Scanning works OK; but I can't see what I'm scanning until it's finished, so it's impossible to select the area to be scanned.
I've completely removed xsane and re-installed it. Makes no difference.

I have the same problem with Mint 17, also with Xsane 0.998 and the Epson 1240.

I've been puzzling about this too. Eventually found a reference that
said the simple solution is to delete ~/.sane --- and it worked.

Wow I should check this forum more often. Deleting .sane did the trick.
