Can I safely purchase a Displaylink monitor for LMDE?

Post by zameer »

Hey guys,

My question in the subject pretty much says it all. :)

I'm looking forward to having a portable multi-monitor setup, the one on my laptop for the stuff I'm working on, and the other one for my terminal programs.

Not yet.

Someone got it to work in Mint 15, Mate, but it was sluggish

Apparently another person had it working on 15, but the upgrade to 16 killed it. I've seen that on my own laptop. My Haswell Intel chipset worked fine under 15, but went away under 16. I fixed it, but since that's not part of this topic leave it alone...

So, I'm waiting for a solution to be found that actually works. This chipset has been around for a while, and there's a campaign at change.org to get it supported, because apparently DisplayLink said if there were enough signatures, they would support it. I think they lied. I think someone who works for them made that up and the company wasn't even involved.

I'm not a cynic either, right?

So, on to other things now. I spent $50 for a little paper weight it appears.
